Join hands with Gate Charity to support Sowers Action, enabling children in Hong Kong to thrive in a nurturing environment
Gate Charity, the global non-profit philanthropic organization of Gate Group, is pleased to announce the launch of the Hong Kong Underprivileged Families Caring Program in collaboration with Sowers Action, a non-profit organization dedicated to educational development and supporting livelihood needs. This program aims to provide essential support to underprivileged families and children living in subdivided unit households in Hong Kong who have been severely affected by the recent economic downturn.
In Hong Kong, more than 250,000 children live below the poverty line, leaving them vulnerable and uncertain about their future. Many of these children come from underprivileged families residing in Sham Shui Po, where the living conditions, including subdivided flats, exacerbate their challenges. A significant number of parents in these households express deep concerns about their family’s health, their children’s education, and their social and emotional well-being.
Gate Charity recognizes the urgent need to assist these families and has partnered with Sowers Action to implement impactful programs that address their specific needs. The collaboration will focus on the following initiatives:
- Supporting Hong Kong’s Subdivided Unit Households: Gate Charity and Sowers Action will provide assistance to low-income families living in subdivided units, where exorbitant rents and cramped conditions strain family relationships and hinder children’s quality of life.
- Empowering Underprivileged Children to Expand Horizons: The program will enable underprivileged children to engage in extracurricular activities and discover their strengths and interests, fostering self-confidence and establishing valuable social networks.
- Homework Assistance: Sowers Action will provide a comfortable self-study room and offer volunteer-led homework assistance to help children overcome academic challenges caused by limited space and lack of parental support.
- Respite Care Services: Mothers in these households often neglect their own well-being due to the constant responsibility of caring for their children. Sowers Action will provide respite care services, giving mothers the opportunity to attend to personal matters and recharge.
- Emergency Support: Sudden changes can push low-income families into crisis. Sowers Action will offer emergency food and medical support to alleviate the burden on these households during challenging times.
Gate Charity encourages the Gate.io community and the general public to support the Hong Kong Underprivileged Families Caring Program by making donations. The donations made will be made to Sowers Action to provide assistance to these underprivileged families and children living in subdivided unit households. Every contribution will have a significant impact on the lives of these vulnerable children and families.
Sowers Action, established in 1992, is a non-religious, non-political, and non-profit-making charitable organization dedicated to promoting educational development and supporting livelihood needs.
